We need your help!
The Chowchilla Fair and Event Center is initiating a new fund raising opportunity in conjunction with our non-profit
501 (c) 3. The “Friends of the Chowchilla Fair” is now being introduced in response to the 100% cut in funding by the State of California to our Fair. This funding cut of approximately $200,000 to the yearly budget creates a setback that our Fair is struggling to make up on its own. We have increased our rentals, sponsorships and volunteer hours along with drastically reduced expenses.
Our Fair strives to continue agricultural education, western heritage, community participation in a continued family safe and friendly atmosphere. Our Fair is a wonderful community asset that must be preserved to continue the family values it brings to everyone and to all those 4-H and FFA exhibitors involved. Our Fair has a long standing positive reputation as a quality and affordably priced venue for our annual Fair, wedding receptions, community dinners, auctions, quinceañeras, races, meetings, team ropings, barrel races, bull ridings, circuses and more. Our Fair has also been a Cal Fire staging facility for past fire responses in our area.
We have improved our Fairgrounds through the mandated improvements with insurance funds from the Clark auditorium fire and through the many generous donations and sponsorships. We have remodeled all public restrooms, remodeled Eastman Hall and added a quality kitchen, resurfaced many of the asphalt areas, covered and improved drainage in most of the non-paved areas to improve access
during inclement weather, painted the exteriors of the Fair office, racetrack, public restrooms, Livestock office, Bigler Pavilion, the building that houses the museum and Saloon and painted parking lines in the main parking lot. Many of these improvements were made possible through help from the local Chowchilla Lions, Chowchilla Lioness Lions,
Chowchilla Rotary, Chowchilla VFW, Hart Paving and Grading, Roger Smith Electrical, our Fair Board of Directors and Fair staff.
We looking forward to improving the overhead lighting of the racetrack, resurfacing the floor in the Saloon, bringing back racing in the racetrack, flat track racing under the new Pavilion, improving the irrigation system, acquiring proper equipment and tools and continuing the increased usage of the facilities throughout the year.
